Library (LRC) Guidelines, Rules and Regulations
General LRC Rules and Regulations:
IIM Sambalpur Identity Card is compulsory for entry into the Library. No visitor or guest is permitted to use the LRC without the prior permission of the concerned authority.
- Members should keep the LRC informed of any changes to their address and contact details, including mobile phone numbers and email addresses, during their membership period.
- All users entering the Library shall deposit their bags and other belongings at the entrance shelf and sign in the Entry Register. Only Laptops, tablets, a Scribbling pad, and Library books to be returned will be allowed inside. Do not leave any valuables at the entrance.
- No photograph of the LRC shall be taken without prior permission.
- Silence should be observed strictly inside the Library. Mobile phones should be kept in silent mode.
- Students are advised to use dustbins to keep the Library clean and tidy. Beverages, Eatables, and Water Bottles are not allowed inside the Library.
- Students will not be allowed to stay in the Library during class hours. Moving the furniture inside the reading hall is strictly prohibited.
- The Digital Library Zone Computers and Kindle Readers are meant for academic purposes only. Students are not allowed to watch movies or browse other prohibited sites.
- Books removed from the shelves by students for reference reading should be kept on the table nearest to them. Please do not try to reshelve the books.
- The Newspaper(s), Journal(s), and Magazine(s) should be kept in order after reading and replaced in the designated place.
- Faculty, Staff, Students, and Research Scholars of IIM Sambalpur may send their suggestions and recommendations regarding the purchase of books and other materials, subscriptions, improvement of LRC services, complaints, and any access-related issues with e-resources to the Library at library@iimsambalpur.ac.in.
All members are requested to adhere strictly to the library rules and regulations mentioned above. Any kind of misbehaviour in the Library will lead to cancellation of membership and may result in complaints to the Disciplinary Committee.
ONLINE RESOURCE USAGE POLICY
- Electronic resources, including e-books, online journals, data sets, case studies, and other online readings, are made available exclusively to the faculty, Staff, Students, and Research Scholars of IIM Sambalpur. (Restricted Access and Retrieval). These resources can be searched, browsed, and materials may be downloaded and printed as single copies of articles.
- Students may print, or download and save, single copies of extracts of the Licensed Material (for example, one chapter, one article, or results of searches of the data) for their own personal use.
- Students are required to take all reasonable precautions to maintain the integrity of passwords and any other security measures. Sharing of user ID and password with others is strictly prohibited. Transmitting, disseminating, or otherwise making online content available to unauthorized participants (i.e., sending to mailing lists or electronic bulletin boards) is not allowed.
- Misuse of any online platforms facilitated by the institute in furtherance of education by any student of IIM Sambalpur shall result in appropriate action under various sections of the IT Act and other relevant laws of the country. IIM Sambalpur will not be responsible for any such misuse. Students violating Intellectual Property Rights may face legal actions against them by the holders of those rights.
- At all times, library users will respect prevailing IPR/copyright rules for any LRC print and digital resources issued to or downloaded by them. At any given point, not more than 10% of a document can be photocopied. (Details can be referred to in THE COPYRIGHT RULES, 2013).
Books Circulation Rules and Entitlements:
The various categories of members and their privileges are as follows:
- The borrower (Faculty/Staff/Students/any other LC member) should come in person to take/return the books to the Library.
- Books will be issued subject to availability. The Library reserves the right to call back any issued book/item at any time.
- Books may be renewed one time only, provided that there is no reservation against such titles.
- Readers should not deface, mark/write, cut, mutilate, or damage library books and other properties in any way. If anyone is found doing so, they will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. Books borrowed should be returned in good condition.
- Sub-lending and/or exchange of books is not allowed. Borrowers are advised to return their library books on time to avoid incurring overdue fines. The overdue fine is ₹1.00 per day and will be levied beyond the due date (it includes all holidays).
